VIC Tracksters Post Top NAIA Marks

In their outdoor season openers, Virginia Intermont posted four NAIA leading marks. Fernando Cabada started the streak by finishing 20th at the Stanford Invitational 10,000-meters with a personal best of 29:01.06.

Across the country, Cabada's teammates had similar success at North Carolina State's Raleigh Relays led by Elkana Chesiror's win in the 800-meters with a top time of 1:50.15. David Cheromei finished 3rd in the 5,000-meters to post a nation leading mark of 14:11.71, and 4th in the 1500-meters with a top time of 3:53.44.

Junior Corey Duquette moved into the #2 national position by finishing 5th in the 5k at 14:17.05. Other VIC finishers in the 5k were Nick Glimsdahl (15:08.39), Jesus Chavez (15:13.31), Matt Neff (15:21.89) and Steeve Gabbart (15:24.89). Jason Lewis posted a national qualifying mark in the 1500-meters by winning the unseeded section in 3:56.12, while Duquette was 3:56.35 in the seeded section. VIC returns to action this weekend at the Walker Open in Johnson City, TN followed by the Duke Invitational the next weekend.
