Manning honored with CAA female track athlete of the week

RICHMOND, Va. – Virginia Commonwealth senior Cheri Manning (Richmond, Va./J.R. Tucker) has been honored with the Colonial Athletic Association's Female Track Athlete of the Week award for her performance this past weekend.

Manning shaved seven-tenths of a second off of her previous personal record by running a 24.25 in the finals of the 200m at the University of South Florida Invitational, good enough for second place out of the 69 athletes competing in the event.

The time was the fastest in the CAA this season for the 200m and was just a tenth of a second shy of breaking the VCU record.

Manning and other members from the men and women's track and field squads will travel to Durham, N.C. to compete in the Duke Invitational this weekend, April 8-9.
