Matthews, Kellman, McCoy Compete on Final Day of the Texas Relays

Field athletes place in the top 10 of their respective events.

AUSTIN, Texas - Seniors Quentin Matthews (Chesapeake, Va./Deep Creek) and Marc Kellman (Coram, N.Y./Longwood) along with sophomore Ryan McCoy (Roanoke, Va./William Fleming) competed for the George Mason men\'s track and field team on the final day of the Texas Relays held Wednesday through Saturday at the University of Texas.

Matthews placed second in the high jump, tying his season-high and NCAA qualifying mark of 2.10m. Lawrence Hutchinson of Texas Southern won the event with a leap of 2.15m.

Seniors Jonathan Martin (Fairfax, Va./Bishop O\'Connell) and Wayne Wright (Roanoke, Va./Cave Spring) also competed in the event, but did not make the qualifying height.

Kellman jumped a season-best 15.52m in the triple jump, earning a seventh-place finish. His mark betters his previous NCAA qualifying leap, which he set at the Raleigh Relays.

McCoy\'s leap of 15.08m in the triple jump earned him a trip to the NCAA East Regional as well. The minimum qualifying leap was a season-best for McCoy, who placed 10th in the event.

George Mason will be in action again on Friday and Saturday, April 21 and 22 at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships held on the campus of George Mason University.
