Cavaliers Fare Well at Texas Relays

Billie Jo Grant sets season bests in both events, men\'s relays all make top 10

University of Virginia track athlete Billie Jo Grant set a pair of season bests en route for qualifying for the NCAA Regional meet in competition at the Texas Relays this weekend in Austin, Texas. Grant threw 48\' 7.25\" and improved her regional qualifying mark from earlier this year in the shot, while in the discus she threw a 174\' 4\" and now ranks #2 all-time at Virginia, just 3\' 1\" behind the record. Tomika Ferguson also hit the NCAA Regional qualifying mark with a personal-best triple jump, going 40\' 8.25\" and taking sixth at the meet. Inge Jorgensen also finished in the top eight, taking seventh overall with her 165\' 10\".

The men\'s relay teams all finished in the top-10 at the meet, highlighted by the men\'s 4x1500m team of McGavock Dunbar, Alex Tatu, Walt Kingsbery, and Kevin McHale, which took third overall. The men\'s sprint medley and 4x800m teams both finished seventh overall, while the DMR finished ninth.
