Hoos look to gain entry to NCAA National Championships
University of Virginia track and field athlete Inge Jorgensen won the javelin competition at the NCAA East Regional meet, tossing a 167\' 11\" to take the gold medal and a berth in the NCAA national championships, marking the fourth time she has advanced to the NCAA national championships. Teammate Billie Jo Grant was the runner-up in the discus, throwing a 172\' 5\" to take the silver. McGavock Dunbar also finished in the top five, running a 1:50.18 in the 800m run.Jorgensen\'s teammate Annie Bobiak finished sixth, throwing a 152\' 10\", while David Sullivan was also sixth, leaping 16\' 7.25\" in the pole vault. Erin Crawford took seventh in the 400 hurdles, running a 59.24, while Tomika Ferguson also scored for the Cavaliers, taking eighth in the triple jump with a 41\' 8.75\" (w+) jump. Janine Ricci ran a personal-best 10:36.34 in the steeplechase.
Final declarations for the NCAA national meet will take place next week. The NCAA finals will be held in Sacramento, Calif. on June 8-11. Full results listed below:
