BRISTOL, VA -- Virginia Intermont College's David Cheromei and Elkana Chepsiror improved upon their personal best times to move into the top fifteen in the nation for all collegiate runners for the year this past weekend.

Cheromei, NAIA Champion, finished second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Music City Distance Carnival in Nashville, Tn. Saturday night with a personal best of 8:39.30, which ranks him 7th for collegiate athletes for the year in all divisions, NCAA D, I, II, III and NAIA.

Chepsiror, NAIA indoor and outdoor 800m champio, finished third in the 800-meters with a best of 1:47.78, ranking him 15th out of all collegiate athletes.

Also competing for VIC was Corey Duquette and Ondrej Puskar who posted times of 4:05.10 and 4:18.36, respectively. Pat Marion finished eight in the steeplechase with a 9:32.56, while 400m hurdler Desmond Brown tried his hand at the 800m winning the unseeded section in 1:56.54.

Duquette will compete in the prestigious Harry Jerome Classic in British Columbia, Canada on June 14th to attempt a US national championships qualifying mark, while teammate Steeve Gabart prepares for the 10k and 5k at the US Junior National Championships to be held June 23rd in Los Angeles, Ca. Cheromei and Chepsiror are awaiting selection to the Kenyan national team for the World University Games to be held in August based upon their performances.
