Girls 4x200 Meter Relay

 

Wakefield (NC) US #3 1:40.72

 

With Virginia's best in the likes of Western Branch, Phoebus, and Bethel absent to challenge them, the Wakefield girls from Raleigh, NC ran away from the field in the fast section of the 4x200 meter relay to post a US #3 time of 1:40.72. A six second improvement for the Wakefield girls from their previous season best of 1:46.15 at Liberty University in early December.


Boys 4x200 Meter Relay

Suitland (MD) US #2 1:29.58

(already US #1 at 1:27.79)

 

The Suitland boys had the opportunity on a banked track again to better their current national leading time of 1:27.79, but the Wakefield (NC) boys took the lead from them in the middle legs to keep them from running clean ahead of the field. Entering the first turn of the anchor leg, Suitland and Wakefield both were fighting for position and the lead with Suitland winning that battle and Wakefield's anchor crashing to the track. Despite not as clean of a race as their US leading time from the Hispanic Games, Suitland was still able to survive as winners and clocking a time faster than the current US #2 at 1:29.58.
