(Sunday, October 2nd, 2005, Syracuse, New York) - Sunday morning, Club
Intermont\'s Fernando Cabada (Fresno, California), a senior at Virginia
Intermont College, ran to a 7th place finish at the Syracuse Festival
of Races. His time of 14:20 was three seconds behind 6th place
finisher Ian Connor (Blowing Rock, North Carolina), and 15 seconds
better than Abraha Hadush Asefa (Ethiopia).
Ian Connor and Fernando were the first two American finishers in the
event. The overall winner was Mohammed Amyn, of Morocco, who ran 13:49
for the 5 kilometer event. There were 338 total finishers in the Men\'s
5km race.
Fernando will now prepare for the North American 5km Team Challenge,
set
for October 23rd, in Chula Vista, California.
