UVA Men\'s Cross Country Ranked #27

Men join women\'s team in national rankings

The Virginia men\'s cross country team has moved into the national rankings following a strong second-place finish at the Great American Cross Country Festival, held Saturday (Sep 24) in Cary, NC. The men are ranked 27th and join the Virginia women\'s team in the national poll this week, who came in at #23.

The men are led by Soeren Lindner, who qualified for the NCAA Championships in 2004 as an individual, with the Cavaliers missing the cut last year by one team. Lindner finished second in the opening Lou Onesty Invitational and then earned his second top-10 finish with his 10th place at the Great American XC Festival. He is joined up front by first-year Andy Biladeau. Biladeau finished sixth in Cary after his fourth-place finish at the Lou Onesty meet, giving him a pair of top-10 finishes in his first two races as a Cavalier harrier. Joining these two is All-Regional performer Ryan Foster, who was the ACC runner-up in the 10K in the spring.

Virginia returns to action on Oct. 15 as they compete in the Pre-Nationals meet held at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana.
