Liberty Ranked Fourth In Southeast Region

October 18, 2005 · Lynchburg, Va.

The Liberty University men's cross country team received national recognition as they were ranked fourth in the Southeast Region by the United States Cross Country Coaches Association today.

The Flames ran at the Pre-National Invitational this past week where national title contender, Josh McDougal, set a new course record, the sixth of his career, and won his 11th race in 12 opportunities.

"We feel we have the strongest team, we've ever had at Liberty," commented head coach Brant Tolsma. "It nice to see that others are starting to recognize that as well."

"Our ultimate goal is to make it to the national championship and usually three teams go from each region, so we're getting closer to accomplishing our goal."

This marks the highest ranking that any Big South cross country team has earned.

The men's team, along with the women's, will take this week off to prepare for the Big South Championships on October 29th.
