Liberty's Josh McDougal has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, the League announced today.
McDougal, a sophomore from Peru, N.Y., finished first in the white race at the 2005 Pre-National's with a time of 23:12 in the 8K race, setting a course and Big South record. McDougal's time was 18 seconds faster than the previous record set earlier in the day. His effort at the race also earned him USATF Athlete of Week honors. McDougal has won all four of his races this season.
McDougal and the rest of the men's and women's team will have a week off before returning to competition when they travel to Lexington, Va., to participate at the 2005 Big South Cross Country Championships on October 29.
