TAZEWELL, VA -- The Region IV Meet was a meet of domination for certain teams and individuals. The Marion boys squad and Lebanon's Amanda Musick were the ones doing the most dominating on the challenging and slow 5K course in Tazewell.
The Marion boys, perhaps a surprise team from the Southwest, swept the first 5 spots in the boys race for a team score of 15 points. They were led by junior Fleet Hower who won by almost a minute in a time of 17:57. The times are very misleading because of the course and lack of competition, so expect Marion to turn some heads next weekend at the AA state meet.
Lebanon senior Amanda Musick won the Region IV Meet for the 4th consecutive year in a time of 22:24.
Though not winning in nearly as impressive fashion as the Marion boys, the Marion girls were strong as they placed 4 runners in the top 8 for a team score of 36 as the won the team title.
