MIDLOTHIAN, VA -- As only a sophomore at James River High School, Kristen Wolfe has quickly established herself in a short time as one of the state\'s top distance runners. The defending Group AAA state champion in the 1000 meter run, Wolfe has qualified for state meet competition in all four chances and earned All-State honors during each trip to the top state stage. If she continues on the pace she has set for herself throughout her high school career, she could end up with even greater honors when she graduates over two years from now.
Wolfe got her start in running in the Chesterfield County middle school track system at Robious Middle. However, she was not the runner she is now. In fact, she was a sprinter and never ran cross country throughout middle school. \"Well I ran track in middle school, but I didn\'t do anything higher than a 200 until someone told me just to try cross country in ninth grade and see if I liked it.\"
