One of the top performances at the CVTF Clinic Invitational in Richmond on Wednesday belonged to Asia Smith of Highland Springs, who threw for a mark of 38'4" in the shot put. With a 39'11.25" personal best, the Highland Springs senior Smith is one of the state's top returnees in the shot. Only a freshmen, Deep Run's Matthew Novak won the 1000 meter run against Central Region cross country champion Nathaniel Hall of Atlee who was tripling back from the 1600 and 500 earlier in a short time window. Lee-Davis junior Bonny Turnage ran away with a 1000 meter victory and personal best time of 3:12. Faith Sykes of L.C. Bird claimed first in a competitive girls 500 meter race in 1:25.52 on the Arthur Ashe Center 145 meter spikeless track.
