Photos include Morrison\'s two previous clears before the epic clearance, THE CLEARANCE, all 3 of his attempts at a height of 18 1/2 feet, and the post celebration shots.

Eastern Region Meet Coverage: Morrison breaks LoJo\'s record! Clears 17-6.50 in PV! May 27, 2006

History was made at the 2006 Eastern Region Meet in a chase and dream that has been going on all spring in the mind of Great Bridge senior Mike Morrison in breaking the school, regional, and state record held by former Great Bridge star and Olympian Lawrence Johnson. Morrison\'s dream was achieved on Saturday at the regional meet held at Todd Stadium in Newport News as he cleared a height of 17\'6.50\" on his first attempt to break the old mark. The clearance also put him just outside of the US top ten all-time as the tenth best mark stands at 17\'7\". Morrison nearly made his way into the top ten list as his last two attempts at 18 and a half put him over the bar, before knocking it over.
