Aurora Scott sighting at AAU State Meet Nov 17, 2007

There was a rare Aurora Scott sighting (pictured above by Andy Paisley) at the Virginia AAU State Meet on Saturday at Sportsplex in Virginia Beach. Scott won the young women's division in 18:37 in her final tune-up race prior to Foot Locker South. Scott has been quietly under the radar this fall compared to last year when she posted a swift half marathon time in early September and some fast road times including a 16:37 road 5K. She also had a 17:14 performance last year at the AAU State Meet. However, it is tough to read what is the returning Foot Locker South champion's fitness level heading into next week in Charlotte as she appears to be treating many of her races this fall as workouts as shown by running as a race bandit in multiple races in the same meet on at least two occassions. Ocean Lakes senior Caleb Doan had the fastest boys' time of the day with a 16:28 performance to win the young men's division. Teammates Andrew Paisley (16:43) and Conor Doan (16:50) were both under 17 minutes as the top two finishers in the intermediate boys division. Bishop Sullivan's Taryn Schrader had the second fastest girls time as the intermediate girls age group winner at 20:06. The top 20 finishers in each age division move onto the AAU Nationals to be held on the same course at Sportsplex in Virginia Beach on Saturday, December 1st.  AAU State Meet Results  AAU State Meet Photo Gallery by Andy Paisley
