Coaches, please share this information with your families so that everyone is on the same page regarding procedures and expectations! We are very fortunate to have Impact Churchs permission to use their land, and we want to ensure that we do right by them.

Race Assignments!!

When:
Saturday, November 7th.

Entries: IN ACCORDANCE WITH OUR COVID GUIDELINES, ENTRIES FOR THIS MEET ARE FULL.

Timing: This meet will be professionally timed by Blue Ridge Timing, and held on the new Gravely Hill XC course in Forest, VA. The timing company is experienced in wave starts and has a safety protocol for COVID.

Course Description: The course was initially supposed to host our Annual 40 team invitational, Runnin with the Wolves, as well as the Seminole District Championship in 2020. The course is rolling, and 100% soft surface, through a combination of farming fields and wide logging trails. There are no significant hills, but it is a true cross country course with varying terrain. The land has been offered to our team for community use by a local church, and there is ample parking in a private setting. I am attaching a course map for your viewing.

DJ MAD LAD!! In the spirit of tradition, and in order to create a positive racing experience and environment for all athletes, families, and coaches, we WILL have DJ Mad Lad providing music at the meet. This will allow us to continue the famous start from our retired Runnin With The Wolves meet, as well! There is nothing quite like it. We are asking athletes not to congregate in large groups near the music station, and will be enforcing this on meet day in adherence to COVID guidelines.

Payment: If you have not paid yet, please send checks before the meet. $300 for unlimited entries, both genders. $20.00 for individual entries. Please make checks out to Forest Running Club and mail to:

Forest Running Club

256 Woodlawn Circle

Sanctioning: Meet is AAU sanctioned. *ALL COMPETITORS AND COACHES MUST HAVE AAU MEMBERSHIP TO PARTICIPATE.

Point of Contact: Colby DelBene (colby.delbene@bedford.k12.va.us)

Course Map: Attached is an updated version of the course map. On the day of the meet, team packets will contain a copy of a color-coded (to reflect mile markers) copy of the map, and individuals may request a copy when picking up bibs. The day of map will also include indications for spectating.

Warmups: Athletes are able to warm up on the course when there is no race going on, but during races, we are asking athletes to warm up on the fields around Thomas Jefferson Elementary School.

COVID GUIDELINES

Facemasks: All spectators must wear a mask at all times. This will be enforced by volunteers at the meet. If this is an unreasonable expectation, or if you are not comfortable wearing a mask, please do not attend. Regardless of social or political beliefs, we are required to follow this mandate, and are not the authority to be reckoned with regarding these concerns. Athletes may take off their masks when warming up, racing, or walking from the team tent to the start line.

Spectating: Each athlete is allowed (2) spectators, and spectators must enter the property with their athlete to be admitted. We will also have spectator areas flagged off and indicated on the day of map in order to avoid having spectators on parts of the course where they could potentially interfere with volunteer jobs, and athletes who are running. There will be times during races where spectators will be asked to wait before entering the park from the elementary school, as the area that connects the two is a part of the course. Please be mindful of any instructions or requests provided by our volunteers in neon yellow vests! They are there to help ensure that races go on unimpeded.

Tents: Teams are allowed to set up socially distanced tents in the main field located between the start and finish lines. This area will be indicated on the day of map as well. While this seems like an arbitrary distance, we are asking that all team tents be 50 apart for safety.

Awards: We will provide awards to the top (3) individuals in each division, as well as a trophy for the winning team at a contained awards ceremony immediately following the race in the finishing chute.

Parking: Parking will be located at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. Parking is $5.00, to be collected at the entrance to TJ. Upon parking, you will be directed to walk across the soccer fields and onto the course through an opening that connects the two properties. Address: 1255 Patriots Place, Forest, VA 24551

Race Assignments: These will be released at least a week prior to the event to allow planning time for those travelling.

Thanks for joining us, and we look forward to seeing you all soon!
