Mountain 7 District Cross Country Championships

Abingdon High School is honored to host the Mountain 7 District Championships at Sugar Hollow Park. The Sugar Hollow Park course is over 40 years old, is one of the oldest courses in Virginia, and is very spectator friendly.

Female Race 11:15 AM

Male Race: 12:00 PM

Combined Alternate Race: 12:30 PM
Awards: to follow last race at approximately 1:15PM
District Senior picture will be taken with the athletes socially distanced. (Please let Coach Whitney Ball how many seniors are on your teams as well as their names.)


Scoring and Uniforms:
We will follow the NFHS Rules Book for Scoring and Uniforms. See the NFHS T&F/XC rules book if necessary.


Entry Deadline:
October 25, 2021 Please submit all entries through milestat.com

Trophy for Champion & Runner-Up Teams

15 Medals for Championship Team

10 Medals for first 10 finishers


Top TEN individuals in each division shall be named to the All-District Teams.


Course Information:
The course will be on a beautiful grass surface with multiple inclines. Course distance is 3.0 miles with mile markers painted on the surface. Spikes are permissible


Region Meet Qualifiers:
The top 3 teams and the first 10 individuals not on the 3 teams will advance to the 2A Region meet.


Region Entry form:
The paper copy will be in each packet and should be given to Coach Allyson Newton before leaving the course. Each coach will also need to register every qualifying runner online at milestat.com. The paper copies will be sent to the Region director as a means of checking online entries.


Results:
Results will be posted at the meet and will be sent to milestat.com


There will be no fee for admission.


T-shirts will be available to purchase.


Timing:
Trojan Timing will be timing the event using chip technology. Please make sure each athlete is wearing the correctly assigned chip. Please return all chips to the registration tent for any athlete not participating. Every participating athlete is required to return chips prior to leaving the finish area.

A $10 return fee will be assessed to the participating team for every chip not returned. Returning chips is the responsibility of the head coach of each team.


An Athletic Trainer will be located near the finish line.


Restroom facilities are located at the bottom of the dam near the softball fields. There are no restrooms at the top of the dam.


Team tents may be set up underneath the pine trees. The course goes through the pine trees, so please make sure tents are not set up on the course.


Parking will be at the top of the dam in the field across from the Park Headquarters as well as at the bottom of the dam.  Coaches, please let your spectators know the spaces in front of the  Parks and Recreation building are not available parking spaces.
Signs and people directing traffic will be provided.
