Awards: Trophies to top three teams in boys' and girls' divisions. Medals to top three in individual and top 2 relay events. Meet MVP awards for both boys and girls. Individual medals will be given to coaches along with results at the conclusion of the meet. Team trophies and MVP awards will be presented at the conclusion of the meet.
Entry Fee:$300.00 boys and girls or $150.00 for boys/girls only. Please make checks payable to James Wood High School. Entry fees are due by April 28, 2023. Field is limited to 20 teams.
Entries: Entries must be entered by Tuesday, April 25 at 9:00 PM. Teams may enter TWO (2) athletes per event in all events. Please be honest with entry standards to maintain integrity of the seeding. One (1) relay team per school in each relay event. You will need to submit your entries using the MileSplit meet entry system.
Scratches: We have already moved back the entry deadline in order for coaches and athletes to enter times from the preceding weekend. If an athlete scratches from a running event after the Wednesday scratch deadline, that runner may not be added to another event, including relays. No substitutions after the Tuesday entry deadline!
Implements: Shots and discs will be weighed and verified in the Press Box (door on shot & disc sector side) starting at 8:00 AM.
Participation: If all schools competing are VA schools, VHSL participation limits will be followed (3 running events, unlimited field, 2 running events if one is the 3200m) If out-of-state schools are participating, we are required to follow NFHS participation limits. Athletes are permitted a maximum of four events (any combination of running and/or field events). Additionally, school must still follow VHSL entry limitations: maximum of three running events, and athletes running in the 3200 meter run will still be restricted to one additional running event. Final information will be updated here once all team slots are filled.
Scoring: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1.
Facility: 6-lane rubber track, runways, and high jump area. 1/8 or 1/4 inch pyramid spikes ONLY are permitted. Concrete throwing circles. Please dress at home. Only restrooms will be open at the fieldhouse.
Parking: All buses and vehicles park in the main parking lot. Follow the sign indicating stadium parking (left turn) as you come up the front hill.
Entry Fee: $6.00 for spectators for an all-day pass. There are no cash sales. Tickets will be available for purchase on Go Fan using a mobile device, or you can use debit/credit at the gate. Tickets do have a $1.00 surcharge. VHSL passes only will be accepted-no district or regional passes or school ID badges.
T-Shirts: ABI t-shirts will be on sale in front of the field house by American Screen Printing.
Concessions: The JWAA will offer concessions throughout the day. Proceeds benefit the JWAA scholarship and athletic funds.
Lunch: Coaches and meet workers will be served lunch in the field house cardio room at the conclusion of the morning events (11:00-1:00).
Coaches Meeting: Scratches only. Afield competitor may scratch without penalty. A running competitor may scratch from an event on the day of the meet and still be eligible to compete in other events for which he/she was registered; however, they cannot be entered into other individual events or relays. Again, no substitutions are permitted. Violations of these rules will result in disqualification from the event and the rest of the meet.
Miscellaneous: No changes after the entry deadline of Tuesday, April 25 at 12:00 PM since entries will be posted shortly thereafter. Coaches are solely responsible for checking their entries prior to submission! Participants must report to the bullpen by second call. Absence for the third call will result in a scratch for that event. Only athletes in the bullpen are permitted on the infield. All other coaches, athletes, and spectators must remain in the stands.
Four attempts for all field events trials in flights, all final.
High jump starting heights(five alive): Girls 4'6"Boys 5'6"
Results: Results will be posted on Milestat during the meet!
We are looking forward to seeing you again this year. Please remember the entry fee deadline of April 28, 2023 and the athlete entry deadline of Tuesday, April 25 at 12:00 PM.
