Meet Information
On behalf of Smithfield High School and Isle of Wight Academy Coaches and Athletic Directors, I'd like to invite you to the 5th running of our Annual Cross Country Scrimmage held this year on Thursday, August 25th at Windsor Castle Park at 6:00 pm, with the girls running first and the boys following shortly thereafter.
This TWO-MILER will serve as a great Rust-Buster Race for your teams! We'll have the 1-mile point marked and numerous volunteers will be throughout the course. Our athletic trainer will be on-site. This is a true XC Course, with combination of grass, gravel and hard-packed cinder & clay. The course has several modest rises/falls in elevation and one long wooden bridge that's on a gradual downslope. Overall it's a fairly flat profile which is easy-to-moderate in difficulty. It is a spike-friendly course but does have three short( 20-foot wide) road crossings(volunteers will be placed there). This is not a chip-timed event. All results will be verified/cross referenced with two timers and posted/sent out to Coaches.
Packet/Bib Pickup will be near Start Finish area starting at 5pm. VOLUNTEER MEETING IS AT 5:30, followed immediately by a brief COACHES MEETING AT 5:35 near the start/finish area.
This event is FREE for your team, but the suggested "Cost of Registration" is a donation of a case of bottled waters brought to the Finish Line (we'll have several large coolers with ice)! In recent years we've had about 10 teams with 75-100 runners in each race. We look to have similar again this year, but are able to accommodate slightly more if needed. Registration closes at 11:59pm on Tues 8/23.
