2023 CLASS 5 REGION B INDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

DATE: Thursday, February 9, 2023

PLACE: Boo Williams Sportsplex Hampton, VA

FACILITIES: Track is a 200-meter track. Only 1/4 spikes or less may be used. Only tape WILL

BE ALLOWED to mark the track or runways. Please remove all tape after the event has been

completed.

ADMISSION: $10.00 for Thursday. VHSCA, VIAAA & VHSL PRINCIPAL'S AND

HONORED GUEST PASSES will be accepted. DISTRICT & FACULTY passes and WILL NOT be accepted.

ATHLETES: Athletes in proper uniform (only) will be admitted free at the door. Coaches will be

given bands for entry. (4 per school) Athletes not in uniform will have to pay admission in order to enter the Facility.

EQUIPMENT: Meet management will furnish starting blocks. All other equipment, team or personal must be furnished by the competing schools.

RULES: 2022 EDITION OF NATIONAL FEDERATION OF STATE HIGH SCHOOLS TRACK & FIELD RULES AND VHSL RULES.

SCORING: 10 - 8 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1

AWARDS: Class 5 Region B Policy

INDOOR TRACK

PARTICIPATION

Four individual entries and one relay: Only (4) individuals can be entered per event and (1) relay team per school per relay event.

TOURNAMENT INFORMATION

Tournament information will be presented by the host school in a timely fashion at a Region Council meeting.

RULES

The current National Federation Track & Field Rule Book and rules established by the Virginia High School League will be followed.

EVENTS (BOYS AND GIRLS)

Long Jump, High Jump, Pole Vault, Shot Put, Triple Jump, 55 Meter Hurdles, 55 Meter Dash, 300 Meter Dash, 500 Meter Dash, 1000 Meter Run,1600 Meter Run, 3200 Meter Run, 800 Meter Relay, 1600 Meter Relay, and 3200 Meter Relay

STATE TOURNAMENT

The top three (3) finishers per event and any participant meeting the VHSL State qualifying standard on the online service milestat.

ENTRY FORMS: OFFICIAL REGIONAL ENTRIES MUST BE SUBMITTED ON LINE VIA THE MILESTAT ENTRY SYSTEM NO LATER THAN  7:59 PM, MONDAY, FEB 6, 2023 ENTRY PERFORMANCES MUST BE A VERIFIED REGIONAL QUALIFYING PERFORMANCE FROM A 2023 INDOOR SEASON MEET OF FOUR (4) OR MORE TEAMS.

ENTRY: YOU MAY EDIT YOUR ON LINE ENTRIES AT ANY TIME UP UNTIL 7:59 PM, MONDAY, FEB 6, 2023. YOUR ENTRIES AS OF THIS DEADLINE WILL BE CONSIDERED FINAL AND DECLARED.



DECLARATION ALL ENTRIES RUNNING EVENTS AT THE DEADLINE ON MONDAY WILL BE BY RULE: CONFIRMED AS ENTERED. AND WILL COUNT AGAINST THE ATHLETE'S MAXIMUM

ALLOWABLE EVENTS WHETHER THEY CONTEST THEM OR NOT.

RELAYS: Relay teams will be declared on a relay card provided at the meet at the time of event check-in.

Eight (8) athletes may be listed any four (4) of whom may run. The relay will count as an event

only for those four (4) athletes who actually compete. Note that the only way to enter an athlete

who is only going to be used as a relay runner is to list them online in one of the 8 slots

allowed for each relay. DO NOT ENTER MORE THAN EIGHT (8) NAMES FOR ANY ONE RELAY.

STARTING HTS WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE GAMES COMMITTEE AFTER THE ENTRY DEADLINE.

ELIGIBLE TO STATE MEET: INDIVIDUALS PLACING IN THE TOP 3 AND RELAY TEAMS PLACING IN

THE TOP 3 IN THE REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP MEET AND THOSE INDIVIDUALS AND RELAY TEAMS

HAVING MET THE STATE MEET STANDARDS WILL QUALIFY FOR THE Class 5 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP MEET. (Those meeting the State Meet standard, must have done it in a meet of 4 or more

schools. These results should be on milestat.com in order to be verified.)

Field House Policies:

Spikes may only be worn on track surface. (No Spikes on basketball floors and Hallways)

Use the trash receptacles that are provided

No outside fast food will be allowed in the facility

No All audible devices will be allowed in the competition area.

Starting blocks are to only be used at the starting line

Teams are expected to use the equipment and facility in the proper manner

Please remind athletes to throw hip numbers away (not on the floor or wall)



IMPORTANT ENTRY REMINDERS : PLEASE FOLLOW CAREFULLY!

1. ALL ATHLETES INCLUDING ANY POSSIBLE RELAY ALTERNATES MUST BE ENTERED ONLINE.DO NOT ENTER MORE THAN EIGHT (8) ATHLETES FOR ANY ONE RELAY ON THE MILESTAT ENTRY PLEASE USE THESE SLOTS TO ENTER ALL ATHLETES WHO MAY BE USED

ON ANY OF YOUR RELAY TEAMS AND ARE NOT ENTERED IN ANY INDIVIDUAL EVENT AT THE MEET. YOU WILL BE ALLOWED TO USE ANY ATHLETE ENTERED IN ANY EVENT ON YOUR ON-LINE ENTRY ROSTER ON YOUR RELAY TEAMS SO LONG AS IT DOES NOT PUT THEM OVER THE NUMBER OF ALLOWABLE RUNNING EVENTS.

 Field Events: 8:00am will run before Track Events

 Check in at field event site.

 Each field event will have 30-minutewarm ups before the next event.

 8:00am: Men's Long Jump followed by Women's Long Jump: Each athlete will receive three jumps and the top nine will advance to finals for three more jumps.

 8:00am: Women's High Jump & Men's High Jump will go at the same time: Opening Height will be __ feet for women and ___ for men.

 8:00am:Women's Shotput followed by Men's Shotput: Each athlete will get 3 throws and the top nine will advance to finals for three more throws.

 8:00am: Women's Triple Jump followed by Men's Triple Jump: Each athlete will receive three jumps and the top nine will advance to finals for three more jumps.

 8:30am: Pole Vault will be contested. WomenPole vault followed by Men Pole Vault. Opening Height will be ___ feet for the Girls and ___ Feet for the Boys
