 RULES: National Federation Edition of Track & Field Rules - VHSL Handbook

 SCORING: 10-8-6-4-2-1

 EQUIPMENT: Starting blocks will be furnished by meet management. All other equipment, team or personal, must be supplied by competing teams and individuals. 1/4" pyramid spikes only

 UNIFORM: Athletes are required to wear the official school uniform. Competitors numbers (if

furnished) and hip numbers must be worn. The National Federation uniform rule will be enforced! (No rolled-up shorts. Shirts must fall below the waist). Coaches - please inform your athletes.

 DRESSING: Limited dressing facilities are available in the Barbee Center. There are two restrooms in the main lobby area. Two additional men's rooms are downstairs on the main floor hallway.

Two additional women's restrooms are available on the second level. Male athletes are not allowed on the second floor.

 ENTRY LIMITS: Each school will be permitted to enter two (2) athletes in each track & Field event. They may also enter one (1) relay team in each race. If the athlete has not performed in that season in an individual event, they will be seeded with no time (N/T). Additional entries must meet or exceed the regional qualifying standard. A school may enter more than two (2) athletes in the event provided ALL of those athletes have met or exceeded the regional qualification. A regional qualifying meet consists of 4 or more schools.

 VHSL ENTRY LIMIT: An athlete may compete in any number of field events, but only 3 running events in one day, except an athlete competing in the 3200M run may compete in only one other running event on the same day. (Note-this differs from the NFHS event limit rule)

 RELAY DECLARATION AND ALTERNATES: Relay teams will be officially declared on a relay declaration card when the team reports to the clerk of course for check-in. At that time a maximum of six athletes from your entry list may be listed, any four of which may run. The relay will count as an event for only those athletes who actually run the relay. Make sure you list all possible relay legs in your on-line entry. The Milestat entry system will allow up to eight (8) athletes to be entered per relay. Use these eight slots for athletes who are only running relays. Athletes entered in individual events will be included in your meet roster and need not be re-listed as relay legs. Only athletes listed on your Online meet roster will be allowed to compete.

 ENTRY FORMS: Official Regional entries must be submitted Online via the Milestat entry system. DO NOT use the Regional entry form from the principal's handbook.

 DEADLINE & VHSL DECLARATION RULE: You may edit your Online entries at any time up until 11:00 pm on Monday, February 6, 2023. Only performances verified by the Milestat data base for the current indoor season will be allowed for entry. All entries remaining after this declaration deadline will be considered final and declared and will count against their VHSL event limit, whether they compete in the event or not. If a coach inadvertently declares an athlete in more events than allowed, meet management will scratch those athletes from all events over the allowed limit, beginning with the last event on the time schedule and working backward until the maximum legal limit is reached.

 TRAINER: A certified athletic trainer will be on site.

 SUPERVISION - ATTENTION ALL COACHES: Supervision of your athletes at this meet is essential if we are to continue using Woodberry Forest for our Regional meet. Please make sure your athletes understand that they must be on their best behavior and take care of this facility. Please make sure your areas are cleaned up before leaving the meet. No food or drink inside the track area. Athletes need to stay out of unauthorized areas of the building. No male athletes are allowed upstairs. Female athletes are allowed to use the restrooms provided. Either downstairs or upstairs. Coaches only in the hospitality area upstairs. All sportsmanship rules are in effect for this meet.

 SPECTATORS: Spectator areas at Woodberry Forest are very limited. There are no bleachers and the outside lane for the track is right up against the outside wall. Spectators will be allowed to stand on the track to watch the morning field events and will move to inside the oval for the afternoon running events. It is standing room only unless you have your own chair.

 TICKET SALES: Online Only - There will be NO ticket sales at the meet. ONLINE TICKET INFORMATION WILL BE POSTED SOON.

 PARKING: There will be no charge for parking. The map for parking areas will be posted soon.

 STATE MEET QUALIFYING: the top three (3) finishers in each individual event and the top three (3) relays from the region 3B meet and all athletes and relay teams THAT HAVE MET THE 2023 state indoor track & field standards in a meet of 3 or more schools as verified by the Milestat database may advance to the group 3 state championship meet. Scheduled for Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA on Monday and Tuesday, February 27th and 28th, 2023.

 REGION 3B STATE MEET ENTRIES: State meet entry info can be found on the VHSL website. Entries will be done online via the Milestat entry system. The deadline for entries will be 12:00 pm (noon) on Sunday, February 19, 2023 complete state meet entry instructions will be included in your Regional team packet.

Building opens at 7:45 A.M. Coaches Meeting at 8:30 A.M. in the upstairs area over the main lobby.

8:15 AM Certification (Weigh in) of shots and Vaulters

FIELD EVENTS:

In the Horizontal jumps and throws, competitor will get 3 jumps/throws and the top 7 and all ties will advance to the finals for an additional 3 jumps/throws.

Starting Heights and progressions for the PV and HJ are as follows:

Girls' HJ start 3-10 - move 2 inches to 4-8, then 1 inch thereafter

Boys' HJ start at 5-0 - move 2 inches to 5-6, then 1 inch thereafter

Girls' PV start 6-6 - move 6 inches to 10-6 then 3 inches thereafter

Boys' PV start 7-3 - move 6 inches to 12-9, then 3 inches thereafter
