Meet Information

The George Washington High School track will not be completed in time for the Galileo track and field home meet.  Galileo has moved the contest to Tunstall High School and schools attending include Altavista, Bassett, Chatham Hall, Galileo, Gretna, Hargrave, Nelson County, and Tunstall.
Below are more details concerning the meet.
3:30 Facility Opens
4:00 Coaches Meeting
4:30 Begin Field and Running Events
Facility - The THS track is a six lane asphalt track with one runway for horizontal jumps.
Entries - Each school may enter 4 athletes per event with the exception of 2 entries per school in the horizontal jumps.  The Tunstall facility has only one jump pit and the take off board is 8ft. Please register for the meet through Milestat.com by 11:59 pm, Tuesday, May 2nd.
Buses may drop athletes off by the football stadium entrance, but should then proceed to park in the upper lot by the practice field behind the visitors side of the stadium.

Check-in - There will be a tent on the infield for athletes to check in prior to events.  Hip numbers and lane assignments will be given at that time.  Athletes should be listening for first and second calls on the stadium speakers. Once an athlete has checked in, they should remain in the infield until the start of their event.
Stay off the infield - The football field inside of the track is being renovated and we ask that all athletes remain outside of the fenced area of the track unless checking in for events.  Once checked in, athletes may get their final strides on the field.  Before checking in, there is ample space to warmup on the practice field behind the visitor side of the stadium.
Restrooms are located in the field house next to the home stands on the school side of the track.
Athletic Trainer - Brandon Owen will be available by the field house inside the track.
Water - Galileo and Tunstall will NOT be providing water for visiting schools.  Athletes should bring their own beverages in a closed container or coaches may bring a cooler for the team.

Gate Fee - The Dogwood district charges $8 per spectator for athletic events.  Spectators should enter through the gate between the school and home side of the stadium.
Concessions will be for sale by the Tunstall athletic department.
Trash - Please be sure to clean up after your team before leaving the stadium.  Trash cans will be stationed at various locations around the track.  Tunstall has been gracious and welcoming to allow Galileo to use their facility.  Let's leave the stadium cleaner than ever!
We look forward to having your school compete in Galileo's first ever "home meet".  If you have any questions, please email Mark Bryant at mbryant@mail.dps.k12.va.us
