WINCHESTER, VA -- A heavy favorite to win this year's Foot Locker National Cross Country Championship, John Handley senior Bobby Lockhart opened his final cross country season as a high schooler with a bang as he opened with a course record breaking win of 15:10.7 at the Judges Classic held at his home school of John Handley. He ended up breaking his own course record which he set in last year's race (15:25). The John Handley course is much more difficult and slower than both the Foot Locker regional and national courses. With that said and Lockhart already running a 15 flat 5K, expect some rocking times from Lockhart at the end of this season.

The James Wood boys continue to look very tough this season as they won the boys team title very comfortably. Nick Kelchner led the way with his 3rd place finishing time of 16:40.9. James Wood's Jarrett McGough and Kyle Russell also had fine showings as they placed 9th (17:17.9) and 11th (17:29.6) respectively. A monsoon of James Wood runners soon followed as they placed their next 4 runners in the 19th to 23rd spots with a 10 second gap between the quartet. A team score of 62 put them well ahead of runnerup Loudoun County with 111 points who paced by senior David Bolton who finished 4th in the race with a time of 16:41.5.

Sherando junior Ryan Foster led his squad to a 4th place finish as he finished 2nd to Lockhart in the race with a stellar time of 16:31.9.

Stonebridge's Chelsea Henderson was victorious in the girls race as she held off Loudoun Valley's Jessica Fanning (20:03.4) with her time of 19:59.6. However, Fanning's team, Loudoun Valley were the victors in the team race as placed 5 runners in the top 27 to finish with 81 points. The Chantilly girls finished 2nd with 94 points.
