Gretna Invitational 2001

GRETNA, VA -- The Franklin County boys and Amherst County had a joyous day as both won team titles and possess individual race winners at the Gretna Cross Country Invitational held at Gretna High School.

The Franklin boys, led by Adam Dickerson's 5th place finish of 17:33, were able to hold of Amherst County for the team title (66-74). Amherst's Jacob Wright helped the team's cause by running an exceptional race to win it in 16:30.

The Amherst County girls were able to pull of the victory, but it was a squeaker. They were able to hang on to defeat the Jefferson Forest girls "B" squad 33-34. Just as in the boys race with Franklin County winning the boys team title, but Amherst County having the individual winner in Wright, the girls race was similar but flipped around with the Amhest County girls winning the team title, but Franklin County having the individual winner with Stephanie Woody (21:23).
