SCRATCH PROCESS:

 School Performance list will be sent out to each school by Sunday, May 19 at 12 pm. Coaches verify entries are correct by 8pm to Andrew Duggan

 THEREWILL BE NO SCRACH MEETING.THE SCRATCH DEADLINE SERVES AS THE DECLARATION DEADLINE.AT THAT POINTS ALL INDIVIDUAL EVENTS DECLARED WILL COUNT AGAINST THE INDIVIDUAL'S ALLOWABLE NUMBER OF RUNNING EVENTS.

 REGION: Herndon, Langley, McLean, W-L,Yorktown, Wakefield, Marshall, Centreville, Chantilly, James Madison, Oakton,South Lakes, Westfield.

ENTRIES: Entries will come from those who placed in the top 6 individually, or top 3 in the relay events at their

district meet.Additionally, anyone who achieved a region qualifying standard in a sanctioned meet of 5 or more teams (using FAT).THE TOP 4 INDIVIDUALS AND THE TOP 4 RELAYS IN EACH EVENT WILL ADVANCE TO THE STATE MEET, ALONG WITH ANYONE WHO HAS MET THE QUALIFYING STATE STANDARD AT A SANCTIONED MEET OF 5 OR MORE TEAMS (USING FAT) (Handbook Rule 84-4-6-Outdoor-5).

 

STATE MEET ENTRIES:Seeding shall be done based on times attained in the regional or district championship meet, or times attained in meeting the state qualifying standard at a sanctioned meet involving 10 or more teams (5 or

more teams if fully automated timing is utilized) which is verified by the meet director.

 ADMISSION:  Adults, $7 / Student's $5

 EQUIPMENT: Each school will furnish its own batons, shot, discus, and vaulting poles. Starting blocks will be provided by South Lakes.

 

RULES: 2024 Edition National Federation Rule Book and the 2023-24 edition of the VHSL Handbook.

 NOTE: The one-minute rule will apply in all field events.

 SCORING: Top 6 will score. 10-8-6-4-2-1

 CALL FOR EVENTS: First call--15 minutes prior to the scheduled time of event.Second call--10 minutes prior. Third call--5 minutes prior.Athletes should report at First Call. In events run by heats, all starters must report to the clerk at the check-in area before the first heat is run.Failure to report at the time will result in a scratch.

 

INDIVIDUAL PARTICIPATION:

In one meet, a contestant may compete in any number of field events, but shall be limited to participation in only three running events, except that a contestant who competes in the 3200-meter run may compete in no more than one other running event. In any meet held over 2 days, a contestant competing in the 3200-meter run may compete in 2 additional running events as long as only one of the two additional races is contested on the same day as the 3200-meter run.



UNIFORMS:

Please read and know Uniform rules related to Section 3 Art. 1-4 Team members shall wear the school uniform. A competitor must be in the proper track uniform and wearing his/her contestant number before he will be permitted to compete. Numbers, when worn shall be attached to the front of the shirt for all events, including the 1600- and 3200-meter runs. See (Article 2) for special restrictions regarding relay races.

 CONTROL OF THE FIELD:

Each coach is asked to keep his/her squad in the stands, off the track, and out of the infield, except when an individual is competing or warming up. Violation could result in disqualification.

 

AWARDS: Championship and Runner-Up Team Trophies - Medals for 1st-6th for individual events, and for first, second and third for relays.Duplicate awards for ties.NOTE:THE VHSL STILL ADVANCES THE TOP 4 INDIVIDUALS

AND THE TOP 4 RELAYS FROM THE REGION MEET TO THE STATE MEET.
