Blacksburg Relays - August 31, 2024
TIMING
Provided by SnapTiming
PARKING
Bus parking and school vehicles will be in the bus lot next to the HS at no charge.
Spectator parking will be in the student parking lot - $5.00 per vehicle.
THE COURSE
The Blacksburg XC Course is 100% all grass with rolling hills and is very scenic. The course is spectator friendly and is considered a championship collegiate course. The course is located behind the Blacksburg High School and has plenty of parking and restroom facilities. The course will have obstacles similar to a European cross country course. Nothing hard but something they kids will be excited about.
The course has been the host of the 2014, 2015 Conference 32 Championships, the 2014, 2015 3A West Regional Championships, the 2018, 2020 4A Region D Championships, as well as the Metro XC Championships since 2014.
5k Race Option
Previously Blacksburg has hosted the VHSL Region 4D Championships, and has offered a 5k option during the Blacksburg Relays as a course preview. However we will not be hosting the Region 4D Championships this year and thus will not be hosting a 5k option for 2023.
THE RELAY
The relay has five people. Each leg runs 2 kilometers for a total relay distance of 10k.
Each runner's splits will be taken. You will have a team time and 2k times for each of your athletes.
Your first relay team is Team A.
Your second relay team is Team B.
You can have as many teams as you need. So your 10th team would be your J team. Any athletes you have that can't be on a relay can run the high school open race (11:00am).
Entry Deadline is Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 11:00pm.
To save a tremendous amount of hassle for the timing crew the day of the
race, please email your relay teams (in order) to Stephen Howard at
stephenhoward@mcps.org. If you have any changes the day of the meet,
let us know as soon as you can so we can make the switch before the
Relay races start.
