Northwestern District Track & Field Championships

Location: James Wood High School, Winchester, VA.

Date: Wednesday, May 14, 2025.

Time: 11:00 AM. Coaches meeting at 10:15. Field events will begin promptly at 11:00 AM and the 3200 meter relay will begin at 11:05 AM.

Awards: Team trophies will be presented at the conclusion of the meet.  Medals may be given to top three in each event.

Entries: Entries must be entered by Sunday, May 11 at 6:00 PM. Teams may enter THREE (3) athletes per event in all individual events and one (1) relay team per school in each relay event. There are no qualifying standards and no additional entries. You will need to submit your entries using the MileSplit meet entry system.


UPDATE!!!! Pole Vault will be contested at Handley High School on Thursday, May 14 at 12:00 PM. 

Scratches: We have already moved back the entry deadline in order for coaches and athletes to enter times from the preceding weekend. If an athlete scratches from a running event after the entry deadline, that runner may not be added to another event, including relays. No substitutions after the Sunday entry deadline!

Implements: Shots and discs will be weighed and verified at the field house starting at 10:00 AM.

Participation: VHSL participation limits will be followed (3 running events, unlimited field, 2 running events if one is the 3200m). Final information will be updated here once all team slots are filled.

Scoring: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1.

Facility: 6-lane rubber track, runways, and high jump area. 1/8 or 1/4 inch pyramid spikes ONLY are permitted. Concrete throwing circles. Please dress at home. Only restrooms will be open at the field house.

Team Dropoff & Parking: All buses and school vehicles may drop off athletes near the upper ticket booth in the bus loop, and then must proceed to the far end of the main parking lot near the water tower until the conclusion of the meet. park in the main parking lot. Due to JWHS construction, you will need to have buses use the back entrance. Pass the school on the left (up on hill) and continue on Apple Pie Ridge past the baseball field, church, and tennis courts on your left. Make the left turn immediately after the tennis courts and drop off at the football stadium upper gate. Buses will be directed to their parking area.

Entry Fee: $10.00 for spectators for an all-day pass. Tickets will be available for purchase on Go Fan using a mobile device, or you can use debit/credit/cash at the gate. VHSL passes only will be accepted-no district or regional passes or school ID badges. 

T-Shirts: NWD Championships t-shirts will be on sale in front of the field house by American Screen Printing.

Concessions: The JWAA will offer concessions throughout the day. Proceeds benefit the JWAA scholarship and athletic funds.

Dinner: Coaches and meet workers will be served lunch in the field house cardio room at approximately 1:00.

Coaches Meeting: Scratches only. A field competitor may scratch without penalty. A running competitor may scratch from an event on the day of the meet and still be eligible to compete in other events for which he/she was registered; however, they cannot be entered into other individual events or relays. Again, no substitutions are permitted. Violations of these rules will result in disqualification from the event and the rest of the meet.

Miscellaneous: No changes after the entry deadline of Sunday, May 11 at 6:00 PM since entries will be posted shortly thereafter. Coaches are solely responsible for checking their entries prior to submission! Participants must report to the bullpen by second call. Absence for the third call will result in a scratch for that event. Only athletes in the bullpen are permitted on the infield. All other coaches, athletes, and spectators must remain in the stands.

Three attempts for all field events in flights, top 9 advance to finals for additional three attempts.

High jump starting heights(five alive): Girls 4'4", Boys 5'4"

Results: Results will be posted on Milestat during the meet.

REGION 4D CHAMPIONSHIPS: will be held on May 27 at Millbrook High School starting at 1:00 PM.
