Date: Wednesday, November 6, 2024 - Rain date is Thursday, November 7. Knowing teams are traveling long distances, a decision to move to the rain date, should we need to consider that option, will be made as early as possible on 11/6. Communication on this decision will be conveyed by email.

The Milestat site for registration opens Monday, October 14 and closes on Monday, November 4, 11:00 pm

Coaches will also need to email entries on the VHSL Region Entry Form that will be emailed to them to Andy McCracken at andy.mccracken800@gmail.com by Monday, November 4.  Please also email a copy to the AD at Altavista, Debra Spencer at dspencer@campbell.k12.va.us

Timing:  Finish line timing results will be handled by Blue Ridge Timing.  This will be a chip timed race. There will be a back-up system in place.

Rules: All National Federation Rules will be in effect including uniform and athlete conduct. Please review all rules with your athletes before the meet.

State Advancement: The top three (3) teams and the top five (5) finishers not on one of the top three teams will qualify for the VHSL State Cross Country Championships at Virginia Tech on November 16.

Regional admission cost: $10

Concessions - None

Team Packets: Team packets will be available for pick-up at the finish line upon arrival. A hard copy of the course map will be provided in the team packet.

T-shirts: Will be available on-site through SFC Screenprinting.

Course Map: Will be emailed to coaches once it is complete.  The course has been changed a bit and we need to finish creating the new map and we will do that asap. The course is run on a farm and the athletes will be on grass for the majority of the race but there are a few sections that consist of a dirt trail.  It is a course with rolling hills throughout.  It is well proportioned with about of the course being uphill, downhill and flat.

Awards:  Medals shall be awarded to the top 15 individual finishers for each gender.Team  Trophies will be awarded to the Region Champion and Runner-up for each gender. Plaques will be awarded to the Runner of the Year and the Coach of the Region Champion for each gender.  Awards ceremony will take place as soon as possible following the boys race. 

Restrooms: There are porta-johns on-site. There are no dressing rooms available.

Team areas: There is plenty of space available for everyone to spread themselves out. Please utilize the fields that the porta-johns are located in as your team area.  Portable tents are permitted.  

Finish line: Please tell your athletes AND YOUR PARENTS that the finish line area will be roped off with flags and/or caution tape.  The area we will be enclosing will be extensive.  NOBODY besides meet officials will be allowed in this area.  Athletes and parents inside of this roped off area may lead to disqualification of athletes.  Coaches will be permitted IF they have an athlete in need of help.

Parking: Parking for school buses and spectators will be in the field adjacent to the course.  There will be someone standing at the entrance to the field to assist everyone into the field.

Directions: Take US 29 to the Business 29 exit for Altavista (first Altavista exit heading South on 29 and fourth Altavista exit if heading North on 29).  Make a left at the end of the exit ramp (if coming from 29 South) or a right (if coming from 29 North) which then puts you on Business 29.  Travel approximately 2.2 miles to the second traffic light.  At that light (Altavista Fire Company will be on the right and the Food Lion shopping center will be on the left), turn right and go approximately .3 of a mile.  Frazier Farm will be on your right.  There will be someone there to direct buses and cars into the parking area.
