                                                                          TEAM WELCOME LETTER

We welcome your school as a participant in the 58th Annual Cosmopolitan Invitational Track and Field Meet which will be held on May 1 - May 3, 2025 at William Fleming High School (no rain date available). This meet is sanctioned by the V.H.S.L.

Team Entry for all divisions must be submitted using MileStatMileStat will open the entry period on April 1st and will close at 11:59PM on April 28th.

Master Eligibility List, Worker Card and entry fee of $175 per Middle School and $275 per High School (make check payable to COSMO '25) MUST BE SUBMITTED BY 4:30 PM, April 28th, TO RANDY LOWER, MEET DIRECTOR, at Eades & Lower, Inc., 5007 Carriage Dr., Suite 100, Roanoke, VA 24018. We will again have the Parade of Athletes on Saturday at 11:00 AM. Please have your athletes at the starting area at 10:45 with your school banner. This is a very impressive ceremony each year that has become a tradition.

Lunch will be served to Coaches and Officials at Noon.

COSMO 2025 AWARDS PRESENTATIONS

                                                               COSMO 2025 MEET RULES & REGULATIONS

I.     Description of Track at William Fleming High School: Track is 8-48" lanes, "resolite" surface; 1/4" spikes (pyramid only-no Christmas tree or Pins) are permitted on runways and track surface. No tape allowed on running or jumping surfaces.

II.    Warm-up Areas for Athletes: Athletes may warm up on back straight-aways during field events.  Athletes are not to be on the curve during the high jump, shot put, and discus event. Athletes may warm up on the back straight-away during the 100 meters, 110 hurdles, and the 100 hurdles. No warm-ups in the infield. No food or gum in track/fenced area.

III.     Coaches may be in the following areas: In the stands during events and running trials, or during field events at their assigned event. No electric devices inside the track/fenced area for coaches or athletes. No food or gum in track/fenced area.

IV.         National Federation and High School League Rules will be enforced throughout the track meet.

V.           Cosmo Rules: 1) Running event calls take precedent over field event. Athletes must check in with field event judge and report to running event staging area by second call. No athletes on the infield unless checking in for an event.

VI.        **PARTICIPATION LIMITS FOR ATHLETES: Schools may enter 3 athletes in each event EXCEPT Middle School and Junior Division Field Events which will be limited to 2 entries due to time constraints on Thursday and Friday evening.  Athletes may participate in 3 running events.  Athletes may participate in ONE Division only: Middle School- 6, 7 & 8 Grades, Jr. Division- 9 & 10 Grades, Sr. Division- 9,10,11,12 Grades

VII.     Division Trials: The first place finisher of each trial, and the next fastest times up to 8 runners, depending on the number of heats, will advance to the finals Saturday.

VIII.      MIDDLE SCHOOL DIVISION: No trials in Long & Triple Jump or Shot & Discus. Each participant gets 3 attempts. Take the best effort for scoring the event.  JUNIOR DIVISION: No trials in Long & Triple Jump or Shot & Discus. Each Participant gets 3 attempts. Take the best effort for scoring the event.

IX.         Each school MUST RETURN "WORKER CARD". ALL schools will be providing workers for the events. We hope this will help make this ensure that this will be another outstanding event. The Cosmo Club will provide a judge at each event.

X.         The Games Committee has set Hurdle height for Middle School Boys at 30 inches for 110 meter High Hurdle. and the Middle School Girls will throw a 6 pound shot.

           COSMOPOLITAN INVITATIONAL TRACK AND FIELD MEET MILESTAT INSTRUCTIONS

Entries, for all divisions, are to be submitted using the MileStat website.

Instructions for Coaches to make entries can be found under the "Additional Information" section on the Meet Page.

The Entry Period opens on April 1st and closes April 28th at 11:59 PM.

The password is Cosmo25.

      MEET LOGISTICS AND OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR TEAMS AND SPECTATORS

1.   Teams can arrive no earlier than 4:00 pm at the William Fleming Field House on Thursday and Friday, May 1st and 2nd.  Athletic buses will need to enter on Ordway Drive, take a right on Frontage Road, and a left on Highland Farm Road into the William Fleming Field House, and exit the same way.

2.   The parking lot will not be available for spectators to park or have access to the William Fleming campus until 4:30 pm Thursday and Friday, May 1st and 2nd.

3.   Gates will open at 4:30 pm and the event will start at 5:00 pm.

4.    Tickets will be available for purchase at the box office in the front of the stadium each day.  Ticket prices are $----- and may be purchased using cash, debit or credit card, and Venmo.

5.   Concessions provided by the William Fleming Athletic Boosters will be available for purchase each day of the meet.
