40th Anniversary Celebration

In celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the Turner Ashby Invitational, we are honored to recognize Coach Zack Broadaway, founder of this meet and longtime leader of the Turner Ashby track and field program. For four decades, this event has carried forward his vision of excellence, sportsmanship, and opportunity for young athletes. On this milestone anniversary, we proudly continue to hold this meet in his name, honoring both his legacy and the countless lives he has impacted through the sport.

Entry Information

  • Entry Fee: $300 per school (Checks payable to Turner Ashby High School). Due March 31.
  • RETURNING THIS YEAR: Additional athletes $10 each; extra relay $20. Email John Denlinger at jdenlinge@rockingham.k12.va.us.
  • Performance List: Posted on MileStat for preview. Changes due by 12:00 PM, Wednesday, April 8.
  • Entries Allowed: 3 athletes per individual event; 1 relay per school.
  • Entry Procedure: Express interest by emailing jdenlinge@rockingham.k12.va.us. Entries submitted via MileStat.
  • Entry Deadline: Opens March 23, 2026; closes Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 11:59 PM.
  • No changes on meet day except scratches (VHSL Participation Rules apply).
  • Use FAT times only for entries.

There WILL be a light breakfast and lunch for coaches.

Admissions & Facilities

  • Admission: $8.00 (pre-school children free).
  • Directions to Turner Ashby:
    1. From I-81, take Exit 240.
    2. Go west on 257 (Dinkel Ave) into Bridgewater.
    3. Turn north at the stoplight onto Route 42 (Main Street) and continue to the third stoplight.
    4. TA will be on the right; use the entrance at the stoplight.
    5. Buses unload athletes and then park as directed.
  • T-Shirts: Available for purchase on-site.
  • Concessions: Open throughout the day with a variety of food and drink items.
  • First Aid: Certified athletic trainer on site throughout the meet.

Implements & Equipment Certification

  • Shot Put & Discus: Weigh-in at 9:00 AM.
  • Pole Vault: Certification at 9:00 AM.
  • Spikes: 1/4" pyramid spikes ONLY.

Field Events

  • Jumping Events:
    • Start: Girls Long Jump & Boys Long Jump.
    • Followed by: Girls Triple Jump & Boys Triple Jump.
    • Pole Vault: Girls first, then Boys.
    • High Jump: Boys first, then Girls.
    • Locations: LJ/TJ south end; PV north end outside end zone.
  • Throwing Events:
    • Girls Shot, then Boys Shot.
    • Boys Discus, then Girls Discus.
    • Location: Northern entrance.

Awards

  • Team Trophies: 1st place girls and boys teams.
  • Individual/Relay Medals: 1st - 3rd place.

A detailed time schedule will be released after scratches are received.  We will adhere closely to the published schedule and will not run ahead.
