Meet Information
*This is a VHSL Sanctioned Meet.
Dear Coach or Athletic Director:
The King William Track and Field Classic is one of the rare invitationals that invite schools from all levels to meet on a level playing field. Schools from private leagues, Group 1A up to Group 6A will all have an equal opportunity to have the feel of a state track meet in what has become one of the premiere meets that occurs every fourth Saturday in the month of March. The King William Track and Field Classic looks to continue the tradition of high quality competition early on in the outdoor track and field season and will be directed by Andre' Jones, who has nearly 20 years of track and field experience running prestigious invitational meets.
Facilities- King William High School's Track was completely resurfaced and redone in 2023. Despite being a Group 2A school, King William High School offers a resurfaced 8-lane rubberized track, two jumping pits, one shot and discus area, and a high jump pit. Fully Automated TIming is utilized and there is enough space for canopies and tents to be placed on the outside of the track or in the stands.
Location- Conveniently located 25 minutes north of Richmond, King William High School makes it easy for teams from the Richmond Metro and Tidewater areas to come together as one. But this doesn't limit competition from other areas as well, as teams from around the state are invited!
Admission- Admission is $10.00 and tickets will be sold online.
Experienced Staff and Atmosphere- King William High School have dedicated workers whom have experienced in each of their respective events for numerous years. These workers have operated their event for more than a decade and ensures fairness and competitiveness, while enforcing regulations and warning athletes of improper conduct. The atmosphere of the facility and staff include a concession stand that serves food all day at the meet, restrooms, a wall to display results upon completion of the events, clerks of course to greet and assist athletes.
Affordability- The King William Track and Field Classic understands how tight some school and track programs budgets can be, but we also want student-athletes to receive ample opportunities to qualify for district, regional, and state competition. The cost of our meet is $200 for one team/gender and $300 for two teams/genders. Individual athletes are $25 per person with five or more constituting as a team. All athletes must be affiliated with a high school team.
*Entries information
-Each team is allowed up to four athletes per event. We want to continue to help your student-athletes advance to the highest level of competition possible and this is one of the ways we are electing to do that.
