She has been use to flying through the grass and mud every fall since she was a young kid, but while riding on a four legged animal called a horse. Hickory junior Teresa Williamson, a still active equestrian rider throughout the year, has found this fall that she does not need the assistance necessarily of a horse to go fast. Williamson made a huge leap in performance and emerged as an Eastern Region contender following her 18:38 5K performance at the MileStat.com Invite. Who will earn some serious hardware (pictured below) by winning the varsity A division's individual and team titles at Saturday's MileStat.com Cross Country Invitational to be held at Pocahontas State Park in Chesterfield, Virginia? Last year's meet and course record performances by Ariel Karabinus (17:52) and Grant Pollock (15:20) are in serious jeopardy with good weather conditions expected again for a field which boasts many of the state's best including Group AA state champ Kyle King racing against the Central Region's elite of Silas Frantz, Andrew Catanese, Cody Snyder, and Evan Niciphor. The girls' field is equally as star studded with arguably three of the state's top four runners this season (missing Mattie Webb) in Sophie Chase of Lake Braddock, Megan Moye of Cosby, and Hannah Lowery of Stafford. Throw in local Central Region talent in Erica Dobbs, Bonny Turnage, Anna Spiers, Molly Breidenbaugh, and Kaila Blackburn to setup for a fast cutoff time to break into the top 10 finishers.
