Automatic Qualifying: If a student meets or exceeds the Standard (below) for a particular event during the 2026 regular season, that student will be an Automatic Qualifier for that particular event.

Meet Entry: Final entries will be due Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at 10:00 AM. No entry changes will be accepted after the final deadline.

Event Limitations: A student may be entered in a maximum of two running events and one field event. This limit excludes entry into the the 4x400m relay.

Scratches: Any scratches from a seeded running event will not disqualify any individual from subsequent running events but will count towards the individuals event limitation.

Rules: Athletes will be expected to adhere to the NFHS Track & Field rules. In general, the official will be evaluating competitors for false starts, inappropriate lane changes, fouls, and unsportsmanlike conduct.

100m Prelims and Finals: The 100m preliminaries for both boys and girls will run as normal through multiple heats. The top eight times for each gender from the preliminary heats will compete in the final.

4x400m Relays: Schools may enter one relay team per gender comprised of six athletes each. On May 30, schools will declare which four athletes of the six entered will be running. The non-competing two boys and two girls are alternates. Because there are 26 middle schools, there will be two heats of 13 teams for both boys and girls.

Infield Access: The expectation is that only competing athletes and staff with proper identification will be allowed on the infield for warmups and coaching. Staff should wear their FCPS ID badge or FCPS MS

Field Pass and school specific attire.

Reporting: In events run by heats, all shall report to the clerk by second call.

Results: Windsor Running LLC is contracted for timing the meet and compiling data. There will be a results grace period of 15 minutes after each event during which the times will be classified as unofficial. The protest window will be 15 minutes after each event has concluded, after which the results are official.

Equipment: Schools must bring and use SAAP provided shot puts and relay Batons. Only SAAP provided shot puts are authorized for competition.

1/4 inch pyramid spikes are allowed to be used. Only appropriate running shoes or track spikes are allowed. Soccer, football, lacrosse, baseball, etc. cleats are prohibited. Crocs, slides, or other non-athletic footwear are prohibited. Teams must bring shots and batons.

Field Events: Each student will be allowed three attempts for each field event in which they entered. There will be no finals. If the athlete does not have a legal try from attempts 1, 2 or 3, they will not be awarded a fourth attempt. Field events will begin before running events, and be seeded best qualifiers in the first flight. Field events will be competed in flights. Again, students must have competed in that exact event during the 2026 regular season.

Uniforms: Competitors will be required to wear team uniforms while competing. If the school issued jersey is not available, the athlete may wear another top but it must clearly indicate their school. Running athletes will receive hip numbers when they check in with the clerk. Hip numbers will be worn on the left hip. In relay events each team member will wear the same uniform.

Additional Qualifying: Utilizing data from the performances of spring 2024, there is a minimum standard for Automatic Qualification in each championship event. A Plus 1 for all schools is given; schools may enter each teams next fastest student in each event (i.e., the next fastest boy and girl). There will be a

Plus 2 only for schools who had zero automatic qualifiers for a particular running event. Each school can have as

many entrants in a running event as they have qualifiers (plus one). For field events, in addition to any Automatic

Qualifiers, each school will receive a Plus 1 entrant for each field event.
