A revision of the estimated time schedule based on this year's entries for the 2011 MileStat.com Elite Track Classic. We will still operate on a rolling time schedule and will run ahead if possible, so plan on arriving early enough to check-in before reseeding occurs one hour before your first running event is actually run (not scheduled to run).
Performance list for the 2011 MileStat.com Elite Track Gala is now posted. 2011 MileStat.com Elite Track Gala Performance List Other important meet information: All entry fees must be received in mail or paid online (click here or go to the red "Registration is Closed" box on the meet page to go back into entry system to pay through paypal) by Friday or must pay a $5 late fee on meet day. All individual entries must also email meet management at milestat@gmail.com if they intend on paying entry fee at meet on Saturday or otherwise will be scratched (does not apply to team entries). An estimated time schedule will be posted soon, but remember we will operate on a rolling time schedule and could finish earlier with less numbers and scratches. Meet could end closer to 9 pm. Plan on arriving early for your running event (at least 2 hours) and visit the athlete check-in table near the clerks tent to declare your intent to compete by putting a check next to your name in your event's heat sheet. Otherwise, you will be considered a scratch when we pull those sheets and re-seed the event approximately one hour before the start of the event. Revised starting heights: 4'4" Girls High Jump, 5'4 Boys High Jump, 7'6" Girls Pole Vault, 9'6" Boys Vault. There will be only one preliminary flight each of the girls/boys long jump, triple jump, shot put, and discus throw with all athletes getting at least 3 attempts. Top 9 advance to finals with 3 more attempts. Running events will be run as final sections on time and go from slow to fast. Distance races will have lane preferences from outside to inside. 800 will be a one turn stagger in lanes. Waterfall starts for 1500, 5K, and steeplechase. Lane races will have fast sections with all 8 lanes filled in reseeding after no shows and scratches, while no less than 4 athletes in any slow sections after reseeding. Awards can be picked up after results have been posted and announced in the press box area. Top 6 individuals in each event receive medals. Field event winners and early running event winners should try to stay around longer for the announcement of "Elitest of the Elite" award winners (will receive a plaque) to see if they win the award.
The regular entry deadline for the 2011 MileStat.com Elite Track Gala is scheduled for Thursday, June 2nd at midnight. After midnight on Thursday, the entry fee increases to $20 per athlete if entry fee is not paid by then. Athletes, parents, or coaches can pay online through paypal in the entry system. If parents or athletes are entering themselves, they need to claim their athlete profiles on MileStat.com if they have not already. Coaches and athletes can still enter after midnight on Thursday until the final late entry deadline (w/ a $5 late fee) of 5:00 PM on Tuesday, June 7th. The Gala serves as a meet opportunity for those looking to end their season on a high note who may have not had exactly the final championship season meet performance which they desired as well as those continuing onto national and summer meets to have a meet in between the state championships and nationals/summer meets to stay race sharp. The meet also offers some unique events not regularly found in a normal high school meet including the 1500 meter run, 400 meter hurdles, 5000 meter run, and 2000 meter steeplechase which addtionally is an opportunity to post times in events which college coaches easily recognize. This meet is a break from the high pressure championship meets over the last few weeks as the stingent high school uniform rules go virtually out of the window in a USATF sanctioned meet, while music during the competition and lively race announcing make a fun atmosphere yet you can still produce a personal or season best in at one of the state's top track facilities (Sports Backers Stadium). The Gala is an extremely important annual fundraiser for MileStat.com as after a long 10 months of using our subscription revenue to pay for photographers at meets and maintain our site coverage, our funds are always pretty low at this time of the year and the relatively in-active summer months of few meets typically do not see a lot of new subscriptions coming in. Thus, the Gala is a critical event for our site to get through the summer into another big year of covering the three seasons (cross country, indoor, and outdoor). Poor turnout can be devasting to the site's continued operation and maintaining its high level of coverage. Think of all the meets which you compete in throughout the year, what's one extra meet at the end going to really do? Well what your lone individual entry is going to do is help this site continue on into year #11 of promoting and covering high school track & field as well as cross country in the state of Virginia. The sixth annual MileStat.com Elite Track Gala will be held on Saturday, June 11th at Sports Backers Stadium in Richmond, Virginia. The entry standards have changed from years past to be more accomodating and relaxed to allow a next tier of runners to compete who may been unable to advance past their regional and district championship meet (CLICK TO SEE NEW 2011 MEET STANDARDS), but are looking for another meet to end their season on a high note. The meet is sanctioned by the USATF and athletes can compete unattached and register themselves (or parents/coaches on their behalf) online. Register early and pay your entry fee ($15 per individual - can pay online via paypal) before next week's state championships to avoid paying a $5 late fee. Must claim your athlete profile on MileStat.com to enter unless your high school coach is entering you into the meet.
