Patriot District Meet Summary
Oct 28, 2004
Good thing that the Fairfax County police do not place speed traps on the Burke Lake 2.98 mile cross country, because Hayfield senior Melissa Dewey would have a tough time trying to talk her way out of a ticket with the reckless speeding she was found doing at the Patriot District Meet. Dewey had a jaw dropping performance in defending her district crown as she won in a sizzling time of 16:42. The time was 29 seconds faster than her previous best, which she had posted at the Monroe Parker Invitational in early September. A police barricade might be the only thing that can stop Dewey as she is blossoming into becoming one of Virginia\'s all-time greats.
