Colonial Relays 2011

Senior Ali Smith (Columbia, Md.) shattered her own meet and Zable Stadium record in the 3000 meter steeplechase at the 46th Colonial Relays on Friday night, winning the event with a time of 10:24.52 to pace a field of 18 runners. Villanova had a number of strong performances on its first day of competition in the meet at William & Mary, as senior Kristen Mahon (Robbinsville, N.J.) and junior Shericka Ward (Leesburg, Fla.) won the 400 meter hurdles and the 200 meters, respectively. In addition, junior Julia Arduini (Fairfield, Conn.) tied for first place in the javelin.

Junior Shericka Ward (Leesburg, Fla.) and freshman Samantha Francis (Kingston, Jamaica) were individual winners in the 100 meter hurdles and the triple jump, respectively, and Villanova also won the 4x400 meter relay en route to capturing the team championship in the 46th Colonial Relays at Zable Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Counting today's action plus the first day of competition on Friday the Wildcats won six different events and dominated the team standings with 116.2 points. No other team in the field of 40 schools had more than 62 points.

The final day of the 46th Annual Colonial relays came to a close Saturday evening in Williamsburg, Va. The Richmond women walked away with 10th-place out of 40 teams.

The Duquesne women's track and field team had an excellent outing at the 2011 Colonial Relays hosted by the College of William and Mary this past weekend. The Dukes finished second out of 40 teams with 62 total points.

Saint Joseph's Jared Sabre and Kevin McDonnell placed third in the 400 meter dash and the 10,000 meter run, respectively, to pace the men's track team as it competed in the Colonial Relays at William and Mary. The Hawks finished 16th of 36 teams that scored in the meet. Some of the squad also competed in the Penn Invitational at Franklin Field on Saturday.

Saint Joseph's Jessica Di Cicco broke the 10,000 meter school record to place second with an ECAC-qualifying time as the women's track team competed in the Colonial Relays on Friday and Saturday. The Hawks placed 16th of 40 scoring teams with 23 points. Some of the squad also competed in the Penn Invitational on Saturday.

Richmond track & field senior Nicol Traynor was announced the Atlantic 10 Women's Performer of the Week after finishing second in the 3,000m steeplechase on Friday at the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va.

Senior Ali Smith (Columbia, Md.) was named the BIG EAST Female Track Athlete of the Week, it was announced by the conference this afternoon. Smith is coming off a fantastic performance in the Colonial Relays last Friday, when she set a meet and venue record in the 3000 meter steeplechase.
