Western Branch looks to make its mark early in the competition when action kicks off in the long jump. The Bruins possess the top three seeds in the event and could have as many as five scorers. Milan Parks leads the way with her US #4 jump of 19-6.75. Jewel Smith comes in just under 3 inches behind her with a season best of 19-4, good enough to be ranked #7 in the US. The Western Branch coaches will definitely look to limit the number of jumps each girl takes as both athletes will have a full weekend ahead of them.
The headliner in the triple jump is Bethel senior Jayme Thomas. Thomas’ jump of 39-0.5 from her conference meet currently ranks her #10 in the U.S. This event will be the debut of talented Lake Braddock freshman Skyla Davidson. Davidson is the only freshman in the country over 37 feet and she is your current freshman national leader by over a foot.
