Mid-Season MileStat First Team Predictions

With three plus solid weeks of competition now in the past, it is time to look forward to the future and predict how things will shape up later in this season. Now at the half-way mark of the regular season, MileStat is releasing the mid-season predictions for who will make the first team selections in each event.

Girl Athlete of The Year

Brandee' Johnson (Nansemond River)

Leader in the state at 100m, 200m, 400m and ranked second in the 300m hurdles. Also is a part of the state leading 4x100m relay. 

 

Boy Athlete of The Year

Noah Lyles (T.C. Williams)

Currently leading the state in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Lyles is also going to be an integral part of multiple relay teams in the state. 

 

Girl Field Event Athlete of The Year

Galissia Cause (Battlefield) 

State leader in the shot put and currently ranked second in the discus.

 

Boys Field Event Athlete of The Year

Steven Dunbar (Tallwood)

Already known to be one of the best jumpers in the state, he recently found his form once again and took home the "W" in the high jump at Arcadia with his clearance of 7-0 in the high jump.

These rankings are based on current state leaderboards as well as their performances last season being better then any other this year. Some of the athletes included had such great performances last year that they had to be included on this list despite not running or jumping this season. Also athletes on relays received some advantage for being part of stellar relays as well.
