If Day One of the 5A/6A track meet at Todd Stadium gave us any indication of the near future, it’s that Saturday should prove to be a barnburner on the oval and in the field: full of state bests and potential records. After Day 1 the Henrico girls and Hickory boys lead in the 5A competition, while the Western Branch girls and Grassfield boys are atop the team leaderboard in 6A.

5A Girls

Henrico’s LaChyna Roe repeated her indoor state winning performance, taking the triple jump crown with a hop, skip and jump of 40-0.75.

Jordan Lipinski of Lee-Davis took the pole vault event with a 10’ 6” leap, while Manchester’s Sidra Morris won the shot put with a toss of 37-7.5.

The key running performance of Friday came from the George C. Marshall quartet of Ava D. Bir, Heather Holt, Jenna Robbins and Ashley Holt who pulled away from Douglas Freeman in the final stretch to capture the girls’ 4x800 with a 9:20.9 time.
