MileStates Time! Previews of All 6 State Meets

VHSL Group 3A))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

You know how we said that the 5A boys team title race going to be the best? Well, we could have been lying because this team title race is wide-open. On paper, we have both Western Albemarle and Warhill tied at 48 points and then another three teams (Blacksburg, Lafayette, and Heritage) all within 8 points. To put it in simple terms, this meet is going to be close.

On the girls side we also have a close one with Lafayette looking to be the first 3A team to ever beat Blacksburg in a running meet. Blacksburg so far is a perfect 5/5 and have some great talent in Angermeier, Fleming, and Richardson who don't want to lose. Lafayette though is the favorite and coming to Harrisonburg for business.

Individually this meet is going to be headlined by Andrew Hunter who is searching for not only his last 3A state titles (Loudoun Valley is moving to 4A next year) but also some state records as well. He will have some company in Gannon Willcutts and Sam Teller but simply has another gear that no one in this state has shown besides him.

Predictions

MVP: Andrew Hunter

Dark Horse: Sam Teller

Race To Watch: Girls 3200 (Blacksburg needs huge points here)

Biggest Storyline: Can Andrew Hunter break 4:00 (1600) or the state record in the 3200?
