Boys Runner of the Year: Jason Witt (Midlothian)

The big four coming into this season included Abingdon's Griff Graves, Mountain View's Thomas Porter, Blacksburg's Peter Dorrell, and Midlothian's Jason Witt. They all helped make this an exciting fall of cross country in Virginia, while others joined in up front to establish Virginia as one of the country's premier states for high school cross country this fall. Three different runners in the state held the #1 in Virginia between Graves, Dorrell, and Witt. Graves scored some major wins out of state in Illinois and North Carolina, while Dorrell bested Graves and Witt as well as virtually all of the state's top harriers at Maymont. For Witt, the loss to Dorrell at Maymont would be his only defeat of the season by a Virginian runner as he would go onto win his first Group AAA state cross country title and earn a trip to San Diego for Foot Locker Nationals with a fourth place finish at Foot Locker South.
