Virginia Indoor Weekly Rundown: Week #2

Woodberry Forest Invitational

December 12th @Woodberry Forest

Results

Girls Highlights

  • Western Albemarle's Zoe Clay had a great race and pulled away late in the 3200m to take the title in 11:25.43. She beat out her own teammate, Averi Witt, who finished second in 11:29.08 for this title.
  • Midlothian's Gaggy Runge ran a solid 1:20.49 in the 500m dash to now rank herself 7th in the state.
  • Another Midlothian girl, Addison Sanders had a huge meet clearing 5-4 in the high jump to rank as the top 4A high jumper and tied for second in the entire state. She is only a sophomore
  • Alantra Mines of Caroline County won the triple jump going 36-6.25.

Boys Highlights

  • Michael Davenport (Woodberry Forest) had quite the meet and owned his home track this weekend. He ran VA #1 35.86 in the 300m dash, VA #7 6.54 in the 55m dash, and helped his team run VA #2 in the 4x200 when they clocked their blazing 1:33.27. Running that fast, this early, on their track surface means we are looking at a sub 1:30 team.
  • In by far the closest event of the season thus far, Christopher Jackson (Caroline) and Josh Rominger (Midlothian) crossed the line with an identical 7.72 time in the 55m hurdles. Jackson took it though when the times were broken down to the thousandth of a second.
  • Josh Rominger made up for it big time running 1:08.6 to take home the 500m dash crown.
  • Another Midlothian guy had a great meet and that was Lucas Via who improved four inches from his best indoor mark last year when he cleared 6-6 in the high jump to take the competition. This clearance is VA #3.
