Meet Results

Girls Highlights

  • Kate Murphy (Lake Braddock), who won the 6A State XC title, crushed her season opener running 10:38.09 in the 3200m. She was the national runner-up indoors a year ago and will be looking to win the big one this time around. She was followed by three of teammates: Daniesl, Schiesl, and Doran to complete the top four all under 11:30.5.
  • Returning state champion Maria Muzzio (James Robinson) launched a 40-5.5 in the shot put competition to show she is ready for the season. She entered the season as the top returning shot put athlete and as the only active thrower on the all-time list.
  • Alish Harris (James Robinson) ran a 41.18 in the 300m dash to take it by nearly a second over Skyla Davidson (Lake Braddock) who was the triple jump champion at 36-6.

Boys Highlights

  • Trevor Stewart (South County) blazed the track with a 33.92 300m dash. Though this time was on an outdoor track, it shows everyone what he is going to be capable of this season.
  • Following close behind Stewart was Chantilly's Titus Jeffries who clocked a 34.55 in the 300 and then a 1:03.46 in the 500m dash to edge out Stewart who ran 1:03.80.
  • The 500m dash was by far the most stacked field with 8 guys running under 1:08 in the event. Only the 6A State meet last year had more guys breaking that threshold.
  • Brandon McGorty (Chantilly) cleared a VA #4 6-5 in the high jump.
  • Lake Braddock's Colin Schaefer, Ben Fogg, and Conor Lyons showed everyone how they handedly won the 6A State XC title by winning the 1000, 1600, and 3200m races. Schaefer won the 1000 in 2:33, Fogg took the 1600m over Schaefer running 4:24.96 to Schaefer's 4:25.01 and Lyons took the 3200m in 9:27.76.
  • Chantilly crushed the 4x200 in 1:29.45.
