Brandee' Johnson: Greatest 24hrs In VA Track History?

VA is the home to greats in T&F this year. While everyone in the nation has been focusing on both Lyles', Holloway, Hunter, Murphy, Kelati, and company the best one of them all may have gone overlooked. In fact, she actually now holds more state records than Holloway, Murphy, Kelati, and Hunter combined! That of course is Nansemond River senior Brandee' Johnson

Brandee', the leader of Team War's dominance, is on seriously one of the greatest streaks our state has ever seen. A streak that is arguably the best of them all. In her previous six races she has set six state records. That feat has never been done before and likely will never be done again... the scary part though is she may not be done!

The streak started indoors with the 60mH final and 4x200 at New Balance Nationals. In both events she shattered the previous state records and had huge improvements. The 4x200 time actually broke their own state record for the second time that season.

The streak heated up this weekend as she had arguably the best 24 hour span in VA track history. She started with the 300H record as she ran a 40.87 to set the state record and Texas Relays' record in her season opener. Let's not forget that this was at 89th installment of the meet and she is the best ever. Her time also ranks as US #1.

She then was a part of both the 4x200m and 4x100m relays that both set state records. The 4x200 ran a 1:36.19 and the 4x100 ran 45.73. It should be noted that both relays had horrendous handoffs and with Penn Relays coming up... she could really get this streak up even higher.

She closed out the weekend with arguably the most impressive record of them all by running 13.18 in the 100mH final to shatter the state record of 13.30 and run the 7th fastest time ever in the US. That time is also a national record for season opening times. No one has ever run that fast in their first meet of the year... well except Brandee'.

Her next races may actually be the Penn Relays where she will likely run the 4x100 and 4x400. She ran the 400H there last year but it is looking like their relay team is so strong that she may just run relays. With good handoffs the 4x100 record will fall and if she runs a split like she did last year, the 4x400 record will fall as well.

Obviously with a ton of talent like Brandee' has, she will running collegiately and likely post-collegiately. She is announcing her decision on April 22nd. She has narrowed it down to either Florida or LSU.
