Four time state champion and All-American Edward Richardson (EJ) the third is ready this year for his best one yet. Back in 2016 EJ blasted onto the scene in a big way with his 1:05.72 winning performance at the indoor state meet. That time not only won him his first state title but it also set the freshman national class record.
Now as a junior with a best of 1:04.42 and 34.60 he is looking to defend his 300/500 state titles and improve on his All-American finish in the 400 at nationals. Last year he ran 47.96 for 5th place.
EJ may be fast in the individual events but his real talent is running relays. He just has a thing for the flare of anchoring the 4x400 in dramatic fashion. Last year he did just that by not only taking his team from 6th to the win but also doing it for the team state title.
