Grade Athletes of The Year
Freshman of The Year
Michaela not only ranked high in the 1K and 500 for Virginia but she also finished the season as an All-American in the 800m run with her 2:09 finish at New Balance Nationals. She was the 800 champ at the VA Showcase and also ran 55 indoors for the 400 as a freshman. Those times could win her this award for any grade.
Sophomore of The Year
Jay Pendarvis Jr. (Annandale)
Jay showed some speed last year but this season he shocked everyone with his 34.75 VA#1 300m dash at the 6A State Championships. That time, on a flat track, helped him win the state title and was one of the fastest flat track 300s in the entire nation.
Junior of The Year
Shadajah Ballard (Western Branch)
Shadajah once again showed us why she is so great. She was an All-American in two events ran the second fastest 55mH in state history. She was the 6A State champion and runner-up in two events as well.
Senior of The Year
Daiqwuan Faircloth (Nansemond River)
Daiqwuan not only ran on a national record setting 4x4 but also helped Team War win the national title in the 4x200m relay. He also ran one of the fastest 55mH times in our state history and did all of that in just 24 hours up in NYC.
