Hines, Tribble Capture Individual Wins At Pelion Meet, Lead Teams To Titles

Amber Hines, a senior at Chapin High School led the Fighting Eagles to the team win, after crossing the line in 20:30 at the Pelion invitational on Sept. 29. Hines finished 56 seconds ahead of second place finisher Abbey Shoemaker of Ben Lippen. Chapin then had finishers in the no. 3, no. 5-7 and No. 10 spot, bringing their team total to a low 22. Ben Lippen finished second with 69 points.

Junior Graham Tribble led Ben Lippen to the boy\'s team title as he crossed the line in 17:11, 35 seconds ahead of Jonathn Chu of Dreher. Luke Lovelace, a freshman sensation at Chapin rounded out the top three in 18:08. Ben Lippen\'s Samuel Ramos (4th), Joseph Ramos (7th) and Justin Lambert (10th) finished in the top 10. Chapin High School (49 points) placed second in the team standings. Chu\'s performance led Dreher to a top three finish.

Next up in South Carolina is the Furman Invitational on Oct. 9. Furman University is hosting the South Conference Championships on Oct. 30. In 1999 and 2001 Furman hosted the NCAA D-I National Cross Country Championships.
