William & Mary

BOSTON, MA - Senior Jeff Hedley (Virginia Beach, VA) and the Tribe's distance medley relay raced to the top seeds in prelims as two-time defending CAA Champion William and Mary men's track and field competed Saturday at the IC4A indoor track and field championships. The premier track and field champion on the East Coast, the elite IC4A field includes qualifiers from over 50 institutions.

Hedley dominated the prelims of the mile by clocking a 4:05.80 for the top seed, over a second faster than the second-fastest prelim performance and just a second off an NCAA provisional time. The time was also a personal record by some eight seconds. With the top seed from prelims, Hedley leads a 10-runner field in Sunday's mile finals as the senior aims for All-East honors. The Tribe's distance medley relay also earned the top seed entering Sunday's final as the squad timed a 9:55.91, the fastest time of the day by nearly a second. Nine teams will join W&M in the distance medley finals tomorrow. Sophomore Matt Warco (McMurray, PA) also advanced to the finals in the 1,000m after clocking a 2:27.25. A personal record by some two seconds, Warco is seeded ninth in Sunday's 1,000m finals.

The IC4A Championships conclude Sunday where, along with the finals of today's events, the Tribe will see action in the 5,000m and shot.
