(Saturday, October 22nd, Rome, Georgia) - Saturday morning proved to be
a wonderful day of running for the Virginia Intermont College and Club
Intermont men\'s and women\'s cross-country teams.
Behind a strong 5th and 7th place performances from sophomore Steeve
Gabart (Miami, Fla.) and freshman Jeremy Cadle (Charlottesville, Va.),
the men\'s team finished with 38 points to win the Southeastern Classic
Cross-Country meet, in Rome, Georgia. Finishing in second place was
Malone College with 76 points. The women\'s team was led by an 8th
place finish from freshman Renata Volf (Croatia), and finished in 6th
place. VIC\'s Club Intermont finished in 6th place as a team, led by
2nd and 3rd place finished from Corey DuQuette and David Cheromei.
There were 230 total women\'s finishers and 33 teams in the 5km race.
The team champion was Cedarville College (Ohio), and the runner-up was
Malone College (Ohio). In the men\'s race, there were 228 finishers and
31 teams in the 8km race.
The men and women will take next weekend off as they prepare for the
NAIA Region 12 and Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships,
November 5th, in Louisville, Kentucky.
